End of Saturn in Libra

END OF SATURN IN LIBRA:

Saturn

Reformatting the Rules & Boundaries of Relationships

After nearly three years of Saturn being in the sign of Libra, it is time to wish the planet farewell as it wraps its rings around Scorpio on October fifth.  Between now and then, we should reflect on what we have learned during these last two and a half years when it comes to creating the relationships we want.  Have we learned how to balance our life with that of our partner’s?  What were some of the rules and boundaries we had in place that were not working for our own health and the health of our relationships, especially the relationship with ourselves?

Saturn’s role in Libra has varied from person to person.  However, the theme was to allow the wisdom of Saturn to seep in, giving us “permission” to make the hard choices in our life regarding relationships.  How many of us who are reading this article have had to look closely at the relationship we were or currently are in (or not in) and be completely honest with ourselves and ask, “Is this truly aligned with my soul’s intent?”  Regardless if the answer is “yes” or “no,” the question itself can start the process of inner evolution in relation to others, including that of our, “inner other.”

The primary purpose of Saturn is “growth via limits and boundaries.”  It represents the rules or operating manual (or laws) of life.     When one is over-emphasizing limits and boundaries in their relationships, the relationships often struggle to stay within those limits, hindering  growth and overall health.  Of course, the opposite is true. With virtually no limits or boundaries, relationships can live too far in the stratosphere and burn out because of over-expansiveness before the density of reality arrives like an anvil and feels like a hangover.  With Libra, relationships are a balancing act of authenticity between the Self and the Self in Relationship.  The growth that Saturn brings is a teaching that we are here not to judge ourselves and others or lay down the law in relationships. Instead, Saturn—especially while in Libra—teaches us that we are to take responsibility for what we want in relationships and life in general.

On a universal level, the content of life’s operating manual changes over hundreds or thousands of years across the globe.  In the United States, we have seen many changes, especially on the state level of the definition of marriage and its mix with government.  This debate really took off in the last two to three years with many states in the union passing laws on “gay marriage” and/or redefining the institution of “marriage.”  I find it very encouraging in our culture that these debates (also as a sub-plot to Pluto in Capricorn and facing fears as a culture) were part of the landscape and are helping re-write the operating manual of life that is in desperate need of an overhaul!  Libra is concerned with, “conscious, equal partnership.”  This passage of Saturn in Libra truly brought forth these three words onto the main stage and showed all of us the need to work on a chapter of the “new” operating manual.
