The Earth’s skies will soon have even more eyes and telescopes pointed to our Martian brother. Mars is slowly approaching the star
Regulus in the heart of the lion, and with it the comet ISON. Mars’ encounter with these celestial bodies in late September and October points to a precursor for a major time window of celestial events in November, December and January.
If we were standing on Mars, we would see the comet ISON zipping past from late September through mid-October before it becomes visible to Earthlings by late October. How bright it will be is questionable and I can only hope the hype of comet ISON doesn’t outshine the actual comet!
In Shamanic Astrology, comets are wild cards and not entirely predictable. Is it a herald of immense shifts on our planet? Will it be a healing influence of revealed knowledge in our communities and nations? Or will it have no discernible effect and be overshadowed by the astrological significance of the Uranus/Pluto square and the prominent eclipse season, among other notable configurations? It is a difficult to arrive at the answers, but I do believe it will have some significance.
Back to Mars, which is currently in the sign of Leo. In Shamanic Astrology, it is in its last weeks of Rebirth and Growth of Wisdom 
phase before entering back Virgo on October 15th, in the sign it began it’s synodic cycle back in March of 2012. Upon entering Virgo on 10/15, Mars will enter into its Maturity and Elder Knowledge phase, which is a phase that provides us with an opportunity to apply the wisdom and knowledge gained since March of 2012. If you turned 15, 30/32, 45/47, 62/64 or 77/79 years of age during these last 18 months or so than this is an especially powerful time to get in touch with your animus (Masculine Principle) archetype (your natal Mars sign) and find the sacredness of how it can be expressed in your life. For the rest of us, it is more chance to understand the emerging and evolving, healthy masculine expression of Virgo. Mars’ close pass by the star Regulus in the constellation of the Lion is profoundly important. Regulus is one of the four royal stars. Regulus very recently moved into the sign of Virgo, so as Mars conjuncts Regulus on October 15th, it will be as a revelation of the love within us and where are gifts can shine in our sacred treatment of the Earth and ourselves.
