In the early evening tonight, look toward to the southwest to see the brightening planet Venus catching up with the slowly dimming red planet Mars. These two will be getting closer with each passing day until the 3rd week of February, when they will be very close together in the sky, then joined by the crescent Moon on Feb 20th and 21st.
Mercury (aka Ninshubar), after assisting Venus (aka the goddess Inanna) in ascending out of the underworld, has retreated in retrograde fashion and is now invisible in the glare of the Sun.
Right now, Venus and Mars are only about 13 degrees apart, with Mars sitting in the constellation of the Water-Bearer, tapping into the life-bequeathing waters pouring out of the Water-Bearer’s jug. The dance saga of Mars and Venus is about to begin.
