A major highlight of in the last 12 months in the astrological realm is the relationship of Mars and Uranus. This relationship takes on a potency between February 5th and 20th when Mars and Uranus are within 5 degrees of each other in the sky. The concentration or focus period is between Feb 9th and 14th.

In May 15 of 2018, when Mars entered Aquarius, Uranus entered the sign of Taurus (an unusually rare synchronicity). It was within hours of Uranus entering Taurus that the exact square between the 2 planets took place. Mars was nearing its opposition with the Sun and brightening considerably. But an even rarer happening was May 15th square was the first of 3 squares over a 4-month period of time – in the signs of Aquarius and Taurus.

This was setting up the fullness of Mars (the masculine principle) in the Aquarius mind and the tension or crossroads of Uranus (unexpected events, breakthroughs, great shifting) in the Taurus body. This is exemplified by the desire for the masculine to expand its conscious beyond the physical realm through leaving the body or some technological means of escaping or detaching.

This connection of Mars and Uranus takes a turn in the sign of Aries and a bit into Taurus in February. The journey of the masculine (not necessarily the biological masculine, but the principle of the masculine) is akin to the human life cycle but in a 25-26-month time period (from Mars-Sun Opposition to Mars-Sun Opposition) and a “Hero’s Journey” mixed in.

This current conjunction will be strongly activated by the Moon’s appearance during the Feb 9-11 in Aries and Taurus with exact conjunctions taking place with the Moon and the two planets on February 10th. Mars and Uranus experience their conjunction on February 12th. There is an intent with this alignment being expressed through the sign of Aries in preparing the masculine for what cannot be prepared for!

Uranus is about the unexpected, great novelties, breakthroughs and shifting where one is rooted (assemblage point) in mind, belief and sometimes physically. The masculine could be experiencing an upheaval as to its mission and purpose, its competitive nature and being “all-in” to a cause. There is an intent for a potential breakthrough and significant gyration (such as rocking the boat) in the areas of how the masculine is expressed today and carrying forth from the Aquarius-Taurus squares from 2018 to the relationship between mind and body.

The question of what makes us human has been coming up stronger and stronger with advancements in technology that enhances, assists, entertains and addicts us to an ever rapid-changing social-economic environment. Perhaps this Aries conjunction with the Moon activator can help us become more conscious of the repercussions of not being thorough (or only trusting instincts) in our societal/technological/scientific progress.

This three-“planet” conjunction is also sitting on the edge of Fish Constellation and Ram Constellation. It is moving from the watery constellations to those more on element of earth. The intent here could be a shifting of mind and feelings to that of more solid footing inward to ourselves and our relationship with the Earth itself, especially the masculine’s part.

The last time Mars and Uranus were in conjunction also took place in the sign of Aries, but it was 2 years ago on February 26, 2017. The next one after 2019 is in the sign of Taurus on January 20, 2021. And the next 2 squares and opposition between Mars and Uranus take place in the signs of “self-interest / self-exploration” due to Uranus being in Taurus for about 7 years. The sign of self-interest are Taurus, Leo, Aquarius and Scorpio (these signs are called “Fixed” in traditional Western Astrology).

If a person has personal planets or points in the later degrees of Aries and early degrees of Taurus (or in opposition and square to that area of the sky/chart) you are on the front lines or leading edge of this alignment’s potential expression through humanity. It is time to roll with the forces as you tune into what moves you intuitively through conundrums, challenges and being in harmony with your soul’s intent (requiring mindfulness / conscious awareness).
