This year’s Venus-Jupiter conjunction takes place at 12°08’ Aries. And it will be spectacular! While the two brightest planets will be conjunct zodiacally, they will actually be a ½ degree from each other (about the width of the disc of the Moon). This is a VERY close conjunction! Venus is the brighter of the two planets but both are easily noticeable from most locations on the planet.
I’ve written much about the sign of Aries and immersion into a stellium taking place now through March and April. But it is worth noting here that if you have any personal planets/points in the sign of Aries within a few degrees of 12, this is an important time for you. Even more, we can reasonably say the range of degrees nearly encompasses the whole sign due to the amount of activity in this sign.
Aries is a mission-oriented sign, full of instinct and action to do something worthy of its energy. At its healthiest, it is a defender of family and community when aligned with what it devotes itself toward. It’s a powerfully and fiery force of will. With Venus and Jupiter, it is being energized by a strong feminine desire to be seen and heard.
Chiron is less than 2 degrees away 13°54’ Aries and Vesta nearby at 9°48’ Aries, so these planetary bodies also play in a role in this Venus-Jupiter conjunction. To add to this expression of Venus and Jupiter, March is helping to elucidate the type of shamanic medicine that is coming through for the feminine and the world. Particularly, this involves the wounds from a fractured and vulnerable Aries energy in violence to support and power structures that dominate around the world.
Vesta’s role is to help acknowledge and recognize the sacred in the sign of Aries. This includes its strengths of overcoming obstacles, to defend that which can’t defend itself/themselves and trusting instinct/intuition. It is not, in my view making war sacred, but honoring the vulnerabilities that are revealed after war/violent acts and with Chiron, helping to heal the traumas.
Traditional astrology would share this is a “good” conjunction because Venus and Jupiter are “benefic” planets. In the system of shamanic astrology, they are neither good nor bad. They are complex and have shadow as they have other qualities. But they are potent by themselves. Jupiter will expand the Venusian Aries expression and what Chiron and Vesta bring in too.
On the nights of Feb 28th, March 1st and 2nd, I invite you to take in the bright planets and know that Vesta and Chiron are nearby. The more that we can tune in organically to the sky and its relationship with the Earth, the more we can experience our own relationship with the sky and Earth.
